Horse racing in Finland is going strong though the economic crisis has of course influenced also to the purses paid by the racetracks. It is relatively cheap to own a racehorse in Finland because training fees, vet bills, stakes payments and other horse-related expenses are low when compared to some other horse racing countries, such as Sweden and France.
Finnish horses are very well bred and Finnish breeders have top class know-how in raising racehorses. Now here is an excellent chance to buy a well-bred Finnish yearling and get a chance to go after the big purses in Finnish stakes races!
Presentation of the yearlings in the stable area of Ypäjä starts at noon. First yearling steps to the sales ring at 6.00 pm. The bidding starts at 1.000 €. VAT ( 24 % ) and sales fee (30 € + 2% + VAT ) is added to the price. Up to 5000 € every bid is 250 € higher than the last. When price reaches 5000 € every bid is 500 € higher than the last.
If you can’t take the horse You have bought with You right away, just contact the secretary staff and they will help you to contact the horse hotel. The horses can stay there until Saturday if needed. Horse hotel costs extra for the buyer.
The sale horses must be paid in cash, unless you have applied credit from the sales company in advance. The buyer is obligated to keep the horses insurance valid / get an insurance for the horse until the horse is fully paid. The down payment is 10 % of the price or at least 500 €. Foreign buyers must pay the VAT. The VAT is returned to such foreign buyers who tell at the sale that they will export the horse and have VAT-number in their home country. To get the VAT back you must return a copy of the export certificate to the sales company. The sales company will help you in any export related questions including how to get the export certificate at reasonable price.
The seller has right to keep the horse until the selling price is fully paid. The horse won’t be handed over to the buyer until it is fully paid or an agreement of payment of the debt is made. Buyer has the right to fetch the horse by presenting conveyance certificate. The responsibility over the horse is passed to the buyer at the drop of the hammer.
Attending the sale is easy and comfortable. Weather will not be an issue, since the bidding takes place at a riding hall.
